A Test of Brain Power!

The BNRU Youth Cultural Centre was the venue for a competition devoted to 'Intellectual' sports in honour of Russia Day

The event was organised by BNRU's Centre for the Development of Intellectual Sport, the Regional Centre for Adaptive Sports and Physical 快猫视频, and co-sponsored by Belgorod Municipality's Department for Physical 快猫视频 and Sport and BNRU's Trade Union. The competition was run in association with the Inter-Regional Branch of the 'Pravda' Trade Union.

The opening ceremony featured dances from the 'Heather' and 'Dance Chaos' dance troupes. In his welcoming address, Alexander Ivanov, Honorary President of the Belgorod Regional Chess Federation, and director of the BNRU Centre for the Development of Intellectual Sport, thanked the leaders of all the organisations involved in the event. He noted the significance of the event for promoting intellectual sports among children and adults, and wished the participants luck.

Dr Svetlana Ostrikova, Vice-Rector for Cultural and 快猫视频al Affairs, welcomed competitors on behalf of the University, and emphasised the special value of intellectual games for those who play them, most of whom are children.

The most talented Chess and Checkers players took part in simultaneous games across Belgorod Region. Russian 100-square Checkers competitions were held for boys and girls up to U15, and for special needs children and young adults up to U21. In total, more than 170 children from Region took part with children and young adults from the Regional Centre for Adaptive Sports and Physical 快猫视频 achieved good results with 8 winning, and 24 forcing a draw in their categories.

The Pravda Union supplied winners plaques, and Valery Timofeev, Chairman of the BNRU Trade Union Committee, giving all the participants at the University certificates, medals and bags of sweets.
