A Celebration of International Culture in Belgorod

International students from BNRU and other universities in the city gave the residents a festival of international culture in Victory Park

This was part of Belgorod's 7^th festival of tourism, run annually by city's 'Belagor' Consumer Association. The Chairman of Belagor, Sergei Sheko, welcomed visitors and participants, and expressed his hope that more people would come to see Belgorod as an attractive place to visit. BNRU is blessed with students and staff from all corners of the globe, and we were able to contribute examples of the cultures of Armenia, Tajikistan, Iraq, Egypt, Syria, Vietnam, China, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as those from countries in Africa and Latin America. This gave residents a day to remember, as they were able to buy gifts, put on national costumes and taste a little exotic culture.

Dr Elena Nazarenko, Director of BNRU's Centre for Cross-Cultural Communication, underlined the importance of such events, commenting that,

鈥淭he festival is an opportunity to further strengthen friendly relations between different nations, and to acquaint our city residents with the diversity of cultures under their noses. It also helps overseas students successfully adapt to their adopted home, and gives them a sense of belonging.鈥�

As part of the festivities, the organisers ran a friendly competition for the students from all Belgorod's Higher 快猫视频al establishments. With the help of Dr Alla Belousova, from our Physical 快猫视频 Department, a team from our Medical Institute took home a prize, as did 'New Generation', a team from the Institute of Economics and Management.
