The sixth annual two-day tournament is held in the memory of Alexander Koroteyev, a legendary volleyball referee. His friend Gennadi Kalmykov, and his daughter Anna Koroteyeva were also there to enjoy the action and hand out awards and cash prizes. The guests of honour joined Professor Oleg Polukhin, Rector of the University, on the dais for the prize-giving. The Rector said a few words about the late Mr Koroteyev, noting his wish to popularise the sport which he loved. Mr Khtey handed a porcelain vase to the Rector as a token of thanks to the University for staging the event, on behalf of the volleyball community. There was entertainment from the 'Maridans' dance company, before the medals were awarded. Teams from our University won gold and bronze prizes, and a team from Belgorod State Technological University took silver.
