The students of the Institute of Pharmacy, Chemistry and Biology and the Institute of Engineering and Digital Technology gathered at the library. The students were shown the documentary “Where the Ukraine Come From”. MGIMO Professor Yuriy Myagkov explained how the Ukraine appeared on the map. The professor stressed that the attempts of the contemporary politicians and historians of the neighbouring state to claim that the Ukrainian statehood is one of the oldest in Europe is an insult to the history and common sense. According to the lecturer the West is eager to turn the Ukraine into a base area to weaken Russia.

Associate Professor of History and Philology Department of Pedagogical Institute Sergey Prokopenko shared his scholarly and civic vision of the current situation in the Ukraine and beyond. Sergey emphasized that the European principle of declaring statehood based only on the language existence does not work in the context of both Russian and Asian culture. The historian expressed his personal opinion about the mistakes of the Ukrainian government.

Speaking about the Crimea joining its homeland, he noted that our country peacefully transformed the people's will (a referendum in which over 75 percent of the citizens voted for reunification with Russia) into a political one. It should be noted that the day the Crimea joined its homeland N.N. Strakhov Scientific Library named after prepared a thematic book exhibition “Crimea in my Heart”.
