The forum held in Urumqi, China, focused on the advancement of digital education within the SCO University framework.
The University of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s forum-conference brought together representatives from the ministries of education across SCO member states, along with participating universities. The Russian delegation was led by Deputy Minister of èƵ and Science Konstantin Mogilevsky, while Belgorod National Research University (BelSU) was represented by Rector Evgenia Karlovskaya and Natalia Zhukovskaya, Director of the Department of International Cooperation.
During the conference’s opening, Konstantin Mogilevsky highlighted that a previous high-level meeting in Moscow on April 18, 2024, under Russian chairmanship, significantly bolstered educational cooperation among SCO nations.
He stated, “The Russian Federation consistently advocates for expanding partnerships within the SCO and is ready to engage further in all key areas of the educational agenda.”
Delegation leaders discussed enhancing collaboration in training highly qualified personnel and advancing the digitalization of education, among other topics. They approved a plan for developing digital education at the SCO University and outlined a program for the XV èƵ Week of the SCO Member States, themed “èƵ Without Borders,” set for 2025.
A pool of rectors from universities participating in the SCO University engaged in discussions centred on digital and intellectual education. “The program is extensive. Prior to the conference, we were eager to explore the exhibition showcasing the results of digital education at the SCO University, which enriched our understanding for subsequent discussions. The theme of digital and intellectual education emerged as a central focus. Together with representatives from universities across SCO member states, we addressed not only the digital education development plan but also contemporary trends in digital advancements within the scientific and educational realms amidst the rise of artificial intelligence and collaborative network initiatives,” commented Evgenia Karlovskaya.
