Alexander Babayev, a teacher at the BelSU Medical College, has been honoured with the Governor’s Medal for Valour in the Belgorod Self-Defence Forces.
This recognition comes in light of his remarkable bravery during the shelling of Belgorod on December 30, 2023, when Ukrainian forces targeted the city centre. Situated close to the epicentre of the attack, the Medical College found itself in a critical situation. Alexander was among the first to respond, swiftly assisting those injured in the assault. He applied tourniquets to the wounded and helped students and staff reach safety in the gymnasium, demonstrating exceptional courage and quick thinking in a time of crisis.
His selfless actions did not go unnoticed; self-defence fighters commended him and advocated for his award.
In addition to his heroic efforts during the shelling, Alexander Babayev actively participates in volunteer work at temporary accommodation facilities, dedicating his time to support residents affected by the conflict in border areas.
The staff at the medical college expressed their gratitude to their colleague and congratulated him on this well-deserved recognition.
