The award ceremony took place in Yekaterinburg, organised with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Science of the Sverdlovsk Region and the Ural Federal University named after Boris Yeltsin, the first President of Russia. The expert committee for the competition included representatives from the National University of Science and Technology (MISiS), Ural Federal University, and various industrial enterprises.

After careful consideration of all submissions, Ivan Zuyko, a candidate of physical and mathematical sciences and senior researcher at BelSU Laboratory of Mechanical Properties of Nanostructured and Heat-Resistant Materials, was recognised for his outstanding work in the Composite Materials category.

During the AKSALIT-2025 scientific conference in Yekaterinburg, Zuyko presented his research on “Microstructural Aspects of Creating a Composite of Aluminum and Aluminum Oxide Using Friction Stir Processing (FSP).”

This study was conducted in collaboration with Sergey Malofeev, a candidate of technical sciences and head of the university’s scientific direction in “Innovative Technologies in Materials Science along with two esteemed Doctors of Physical and Mathematical Sciences: Sergey Mironov and Professor Rustam Kaibyshev. The research was supported by a grant from the Russian Science Foundation (Project No. 21-79-10088).

One of the primary goals of the AKSALIT-2025 award is to recognise specialists whose projects enhance production processes. In their research, BelSU scientists employed advanced characterisation techniques, including electron backscatter diffraction and microhardness mapping. Their findings indicate that FSP technology can be effectively utilised to create composites of aluminum and aluminum oxide. However, to address the critical issue of particle distribution heterogeneity, further modifications to the process are necessary.
