Competitors selected the most interesting events, traditions, and memorable places from their homeland and presented them in one of three formats.
A key requirement of the VII International Competition "Tell the World about Your Homeland" was that all submissions be prepared in both Russian and a foreign language. Competitors had the option to submit a video, a drawing, or a text presentation page.
In 2025, the competition attracted an impressive 7,407 entries from children, teenagers, and youth groups across 89 regions of Russia and 54 countries worldwide. Students from BelSU hailing from Burkina Faso, China, Morocco, Turkmenistan, and Ecuador submitted videos and posters as part of their entries. Following a thorough evaluation by an expert council and a jury comprising 125 school teachers, university professors, and public figures, 60 talented participants were selected for recognition.
The winners were honoured at the Russia National Centre by members of the competition jury board, including MariaButina, a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs; DmitryPolikanov, deputy head of Rossotrudnichestvo; ElenaPisareva, senator of the Russian Federation and member of the Federation Council Committee on Science, èƵ and Culture; and TatyanaSizova, commissioner for the protection of entrepreneurs’ rights in Moscow.
Among the standout participants was Loayza Solorzano Silvia Fatima, a student from the BelSU Institute of Cross-Cultural Communication and International Relations. As one of the leaders of the Spanish Conversation Club at the International Student Office and an active member of the “Welcome to Russia” student club, she secured second place in the competition. Her achievement was honoured with a second-degree laureate diploma and valuable prizes, which were presented by Dolores Maribel Lopez Mendoza, the Third Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Ecuador in Moscow. Silvia's mentor, OlgaLyutova, director of the International Information Centre and associate professor in the Department of Russian Language, Professional Speech, and Intercultural Communication at BelSU, guided her throughout the process.
Following the award ceremony, laureates and guests participated in a tour of the exhibition “Journey across Russia,” showcasing hundreds of interactive exhibits that highlight the achievements, culture, science, and natural beauty across all federal districts of Russia.
Reflecting on her experience, Loayza Solorzano Silvia Fatima stated,
“When we were choosing a topic for our poster, we wanted to highlight a lesser-known yet significant event or cultural phenomenon. At the BelSU Peoples' Friendship Centre, I discovered Russian folklore characters, which was entirely new to me. We thought that showcasing Ecuadorian folklore characters would also be intriguing for a Russian audience. In my poster, I featured characters like Diablo Uma, Mama Negra, and Taita Carnival. I find Diablo Uma particularly fascinating; he resembles Russia's Baba Yaga in that he can embody both good and evil. He serves as a bridge between the real world and the spiritual realm. I believe it was this connection between Diablo Uma and Baba Yaga that contributed to my work earning second place in the competition.”
