The event with invited experts focused on the transformation of student self-government bodies at the university.
Held in the Projektoria open educational space of Belgorod National Research University (BelSU), the event brought together representatives from student associations, institutes, faculties, and colleges, along with university staff, to discuss ways to enhance the activities of student self-government.
Moderated by Ksenia Zheleznikova, an expert mentor from Rosmolodezh.Grants, and Vladimir Shipulin, a senior lecturer in corporate governance and head of the youth policy department at the Volgograd Institute of Management, the session aimed to update proposals for transforming student self-governance. Prior to the meeting, the experts engaged participants in discussions about the fundamental concepts of student self-government, highlighting the importance of modern trends and a focus on project-based activities.
“Everything you do at the university and in your free time can be presented as a project. If the project is large-scale and compelling, you may qualify for a grant to implement it. It’s crucial to pass this practice on so that future generations of students can continue this momentum,” Shipulin emphasized.
During the strategy session, participants collaborated in groups to systematize their knowledge about the structure of student self-government. They proposed improvements, discussed ways to motivate student activists, and created an action plan for the upcoming academic year. At the conclusion of each work phase, groups presented their findings and incorporated feedback from the experts.
In her closing remarks, BelSU Vice-Rector for èƵal Work and Youth Policy Elena Malyshkina expressed her vision for the transformation of student self-government.
