The theme for this year is 'Digital Transformation', and academics and mining industry leaders from across the Region were involved. The teams were made up of students studying management, engineering, economics, geology and mining, and included students from our Stary Oskol campus. Dr Igor Konstantinov, Vice-Rector for Science, kicked off proceeding, reminding the competitors of Belgorod State University's excellent track record in this competition, winning the overall prize in 2015. It was left to the government regulators and industry experts from the Stoilensky, Lebedinsky, Yakovlevsky GOK, and JSC KMAruda Combine mining companies, to decide the winners. The three top teams were from our University, with 'Team of Leaders' taking top spot, and 'Avangard' and 'Go-Getters' filling the podium. Everyone was rewarded for their efforts, and 'Team of Leaders' will go on to represent the Region in the 'Mining and Engineering' category final. If successful, students are often awarded scholarships and internships at leading businesses. The teams will all get a chance to participate in the University's 'Mining School' and 'Energy of Youth' summer schools.
